Chris Statham Profile

After graduating with a marketing degree in 2001, Chris worked in the marketing departments of three multi national companies: Renault, GlaxoSmithKline and Continental Tyres (in the UK).  He then moved to the Republic of Ireland where he did business development and sales for a family SME business.

After a short spell as a consultant in Ireland - Chris went to Malawi (Southern Africa) where he designed the BFA training course whilst consulting for Micro Loan Foundation in 2nd quarter 2007.  He found that the loan officers had limited knowledge of business management and thus where not able to advise MLF clients on how to improve their businesses.  He  designed a two tier training course with three levels, which in the first instance was to be used to train the loan officers (training the trainers) who could then train the clients.

Analyzing the situation in Malawi, he realized other MFIs were also looking at introducing business training to their clients, and so he sold copies of his training course to them, and whilst doing this, he won a number of other contracts with: MFIs, NGOs and private sector clients.
